Alessandra is a Bethesda native who grew up taking art classes at Glen Echo Park. She is an artist and educator working primarily in acrylics and pastel. She has worked as an arts-based teacher at the Lab School of Washington and at Holton-Arms’ Creative Summer camp. She has painted pet and animal portraits for clients throughout the DMV, has shown her work in local shows, and promotes her art business at local craft fairs and art markets.

Alessandra has a B.S. in Biology and a Master’s in Education from Marymount University. She completed a 2 year art program at Montgomery College where she studied figure drawing, illustration, and graphic arts. Her background in science and her love of animals and nature informs her work and inspires her to create. Her work celebrates the wonders of the natural world and highlights the individuality of her subjects in a style she calls “whimsical-realism.” She particularly enjoys experimenting with color and integrating mixed media into her work. In her free time, she enjoys exploring the therapeutic nature of art with mixed media journaling, watercoloring, and a regular sketchbook practice. Alessandra enjoys sharing her love of creating with students and believes everyone is capable of learning the skills to draw and paint successfully.
