Elisabeth Vismans Listens, Guides and Inspires Creative Experiences.
She was born and raised in Rotterdam, the Netherlands and started to paint after a long international career in the corporate world in Rotterdam, Paris, Sydney, Düsseldorf and Nice. She is fluent in 4 languages, an Award-Winning Visual Artist, Certified Professional Life Coach, Certified NLP Practitioner and partners with Walter Reed Medical Center for therapeutic painting. She and her family moved from Germany to the US in 2000, and settled in Howard County, MD. In 2004 she became the proverbial empty nester and started looking for a way to give meaning to her life. One morning it dawned on her that she could now follow her life long passion and so she picked up a paint brush, registered for an art class and never looked back. That felt like “coming home”.
Now that she was finally doing what she was meant to be doing, she wanted to share this amazing feeling with others who were also in search of a purpose. She became a life coach and developed her own unique coaching program with paint (visual and verbal language combined). Teaching intuitive painting was the next step and from there she evolved to teaching painting flowers, visual journaling and abstract painting. In all her classes she works with the whole (mind-body) student, because she firmly believes that every painting is a problem to solve and therefore it is important to know what goes on in your head so you can quiet the mind and be more creative.
She knows all too well how it feels to start with painting later in life, and putting yourself in a vulnerable position, and so she is well equipped to help students to get over their initial fear and connect to their own painting style. Painting with intuition and enjoying the process is a major component of her teachings. She is also passionate about empowering women to find their passion and developed a unique coaching program where paint is being used as an extra modality. She also teaches 6-week Visual Journaling classes, where feelings are being expressed in images. This is a
deep, cathartic, and meaningful process guided by the inner wisdom. (Carl Jung started his visual journal the Red Book in 1910).
Elisabeth’s expressive painting style is ever evolving, she sure likes to push the boundaries and is always embracing a challenge. She draws her inspiration from nature and everything around her. Her medium of choice is oil paint, her art work is full of color, joy, energy and can be found in many private collections in the US and abroad.
Over the years she participated in many (solo and juried) shows around the country. Her latest show was in the Yellow Barn in November 2019.
