Maryland artist Rana Geralis finds her most constant inspiration in the beauty of the natural world, an inspiration born from a childhood spent among the woods and streams of the Blue Ridge Mountains near Lynchburg, VA. The deep-rooted affinity with nature is powerfully evident in her work, in both the studio paintings and those produced in the plein air tradition. Informed by an instinctive understanding of composition and a masterful skill with palette knife and brush, her paintings are a celebration of light, texture, and color.

Rana’s award-winning work has been juried into numerous national and regional exhibitions and plein air competitions and is included in numerous private and corporate collections, including the Walt Disney Company. She attended the Maryland College of Art and Design and has studied painting with Walt Bartman for several years. She is represented by The Artist Gallery in Ellicott City, MD, and maintains a studio in Columbia, MD where she resides with her husband and daughter.

Gavin Glakas grew up in Bethesda, MD, and started drawing about the time he started walking. He studied with Walt Bartman in high school and at Washington University in St. Louis and the Slade School of Fine Art in London.

After graduation, Glakas spent a year and a half working on Capitol Hill as a Senate staffer. He had planned to go to law school, but after an eight-month illness culminating in the removal of a tumor from his lung at the age of 24, he decided to pursue his lifelong ambition of a career as an artist.

Glakas began showing his work in galleries almost immediately and spent six years studying portrait and figure painting on Thursdays and Fridays.

His paintings hang in the permanent collections of the United States Capitol, the Virginia State Capitol, universities, museums and numerous other collections both public and private.

Glakas is represented by Principle Gallery in Alexandria, VA and Charleston, SC, Palm Avenue Fine Art in Sarasota, FL, and Hubert Gallery in New York.

He has won numerous honors for his artwork, including awards from the Portrait Society of America and the Butler Institute of American Art. His paintings have been featured on NBC News and in The Washington Post, as well as American Art Collector, Plein Air, International Artist, The American Scholar, Art Business News, The Strand and Elan magazines, and exhibited at mu- seums and galleries throughout the country.

Glakas teaches painting and drawing at the Yellow Barn Studio and lives in McLean, VA, with his wife and two sons.
